About Me
I enjoy living in the grey areas of life, questioning more than understanding, and hoping more than knowing. I love to stand on the cliff's edge and wonder at it all.
I was born in Weymouth and have never stopped moving since that day! I studied Anthropology at Durham University and completed my Masters in The Philosophy of Religion at King's College, University of London. I began a Phd and then gave it up to become a teacher. I have spent my working life in Guernsey, London and Singapore.
I now tutor, write full-time and I'm hoping to finish painting all the porcelain my mother left behind after her death - she was the artist in the family.
My sister and I were brought up in a Naval household, learning discipline from our father and creativity from our Argentine mother. Guernsey was our holiday home; we used to come most summers to see our grandparents and family. Trips to the Argentine were less frequent, but life on the farm left its spell, and I return whenever I can. Still, I have chosen Guernsey as my home.

Mark Roussel Mysteries
The Mark Roussel Mysteries pay homage to my Guernsey family. I am proud to share the history and culture of this amazing Bailwick.

"The function of philosophy is to teach us not what to think, but how to think." — Bertrand Russell
Our Purpose
-
We aim to nurture collaborative thinking.
-
We aim to discuss ideas freely but clearly, listening to each other and working together to find thoughtful and well-justified answers.
-
We aim to develop habits of mind that will serve us throughout our lives.
In our current age of polarisation, with algorithms creating echo-chambers and encouraging a culture of outrage, the Thinking Lab teaches us to view disagreement as positive. Those we disagree with are not our opponents but partners in enquiry, who deepen our understanding, and who we can work with to find solutions to life’s questions.
As A.I. becomes more sophisticated and information more abundant, it is more important than ever that we learn to think critically. Rather than absorb facts and repeat opinions, we need to question sources, assess evidence and consider carefully the claims people make.
